Busy bee…

It seems 2023 has started well. The last 2 weeks have flown by as I expected they would. My productivity has gone up, whilst my social media interaction has gone down. Whilst this isn’t ideal in some respects, it is definitely a positive as far as preparing for the fun of the signing later this year.

I’ve never really been able to balance work and social media very well. I find it far too easy to get lost in the wonderful world of Twitter and the like all too easily. Unfortunately, in the past, that has meant that I have taken far too long to actually get the work that I need to do finished.

I made the decision at the beginning of this year to become more active again on social media, after having taken a sabbatical from it for a fair wedge of time. Due to this time off, I saw my work rate increase. The thing is, as a writer I need social media. It is a valuable asset when it comes to teasing and marketing any new projects. It is a great place to ‘find your tribe’. It is also a great place to ask questions and also find pictures or prompts to help inspire a new piece of work or to help shift a block that may be lingering on a piece that is currently being worked on. I realised that social media is important.

There are ways around being online without becoming so lost in it that before you know it 0900 has become 1200 and you’ve lost an entire morning. Scheduling can often help you to avoid it, should you need it. The way that I am trying to break the cycle (particularly with Twitter) is by going on once in the morning, and sometimes once in the evening (depending on if I have the time). If I find it is becoming a problem again, I stay away for a while, then try again at a later date. Whilst this might not be ideal for many (sometimes it isn’t for me), it is allowing me to still have some interaction online. More importantly, it means that I am achieving far more than I was in other areas.

I see this as a positive, which is a great way to start the New Year.

Here’s to many more positives to come for all of us. xox
