A lot of time has come to pass since I last blogged. I apologize profusely for this. The reasons are many and varied including, but not limited to book publication, 2 x WIPs, life, and family. Sadly, as a result, it means that the release of the poetry book that L.W. Rogers and myself have published has been whispered rather than roared on my blog. I am about to try and rectify this by giving it a special slot now.
The book publication in question is that of ‘Songs from the Styx’. This book was inspired by the writing of ‘Raising Hell’ and the characters, themes, and events that have and will be covered in the Raising Hell series. It wasn’t something that we initially planned to do, but the images were so vivid and the voices so loud to us that we couldn’t avoid rolling with it.
So roll with it we did. Once we had the poems we then had to figure out how we were going to present them. We decided to split the book into three parts each representing a realm: Hell, Earth, and Heaven. The poems were then sorted into their relevant sections.
It’s funny how things work out sometimes. In a relatively short span of time, we had another book to publish. Not that those poems haven’t been sitting waiting for their own platform to speak from. In fact, we were probably a third to halfway through writing ‘Raising Hell’ when inspiration struck, so they were merely waiting until after the first book was released. They were merely treading water before they could be unleashed.
Obviously, with the words flowing, we needed a cover that was also inspired by ‘Raising Hell’. So we approached the fantastic http://www.dccovercreations.com to create an ebook cover that was similar enough to the novel, but different enough to be distinguished from the series that is to follow. David then forwarded the completed cover to http://www.morganwrightbooks.com who created a cover animation to use for marketing purposes. As always they outdid themselves, coming up with a cover and animation so stunning that it blew me away.
In the weeks since its release, our little passion project has been out there in the world doing its own thing. This makes me happy. I can genuinely say that it is not something I regret doing. I truly enjoyed the experience, and if inspiration strikes at any point in the future? I can honestly say I would do it all over again.
‘Songs from the Styx’ is available on #kindle and #kindleunlimited

Until next time…
